Fear is at the fore of every gym newbie. Obviously, there is a fear of being stared at by a creepy guy, and I can understand that. Of course, there is always a chance in every gym, just like in every corner of the earth, that there will be a guy who does tend to look at girls for longer than he should. This is just part of life, but making this the reason why you don’t want to start your weight loss journey, is giving him the power to dictate what you do with your life and your happiness.
Girls, as well as guys, can sometimes be “bitchy”, especially if they see someone trying to improve themselves. myself. People, don’t like seeing other people try and improve me and do better. This is again, a fact! Having said that, we live in a modern world and as such, people are becoming a lot more health conscious, so eating well every day isn’t so much a taboo as it used to be, but their still will be people who will want you to fail. That being said, that is more a reflection of them than you. I would always encourage my clients to still go for lunches with work colleagues but to just eat slightly less than what they would have normally had. At the end of the day, weight loss is all about eating less and exercising more!
If your boyfriend or girlfriend love you and want you to be happy, then talk to them about your weight loss goal. They will support you and encourage you on this path and will make it easier for you by getting rid of “trigger” foods such as chocolate and crisps from the house. If they don’t, then maybe it’s time to ask yourself a very important question!
We all have a fear of looking stupid! If we go outside our comfort zone, then there is a fear that we will look stupid, feel awkward, people will be looking and laughing at us. This is normal but in reality, our minds are telling us this and it’s multiplying it by 1000. The most important thing to remember is that everyone feels this way. You are not alone. Remember most people in the gym are too focused on themselves than anyone else so keep your head held high and take charge of your life! You’re in control of your own happiness. No one else.
Fear of failure is so common in this highly competitive society. But don’t let it put you off the gym. There is no failure with exercise. Only benefits. If you aren’t seeing results then maybe you may be doing something that may not be right for your body and maybe you should think about getting help, like what you did when you found a subject in college hard, you got a grinds teacher to help.
We all have fears. We need to acknowledge them, realize that they will always be there, and learn to meet our fears head on! Then we can truly be fearless!
